Local Pageant Winner Hosting Royal Carnival Sunday
by Jonathan Weaver
Though Miss Teen Pennsylvania International Madison Starr Kunst will go to Florida this July for the international competition, she is letting local children have all the fun this weekend.
Held at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Kittanning from 1-4PM Sunday, Starr Kunst’s ‘Royal Carnival’ will allow children to jump in a bouncy house, make sand art and other crafts and participate in games
Starr Kunst’s family, friends and director are helping coordinate the event, but sister, Brittney Kunst – a recent Unity College graduate who will be moving to Alaska next month– came up with the idea. The event will help Starr Kunst with preparation expenses.
“I’ve just had so much support in our community,” Starr Kunst said. “My sister helped me come up with (the fundraising idea) – I was thinking of ways to help fund myself at nationals because there are a lot of expenses that come along with it.
“It’s a great way to get the community involved and get them to know me. As my first big appearance as Miss Teen Pennsylvania, I wanted it to be in Armstrong County where I first started.”
Starr Kunst has also been promoting her platform -‘Don’t Let Bullying Define You’ – at schools through Pennsylvania, including Divine Redeemer School in Ford City, and sent invitations for the ‘Royal Carnival’ to local children.
Admission is $7 at the door.
