Local Couple to Celebrate 75th Anniversary
Melvin and Mary Farster will celebrate 75 years of marriage tomorrow with an Open House at the Pine Creek Baptist Church.
This Saturday, Melvin Dwight Farster (born November 9th 1922) and Mary Margaret Farster (Lamison) (born August 3rd 1923) will be celebrating 75 years of marriage.
They were married on April 23, 1941 at the St Luke’s Reformed and Evangelical Church parsonage by Rev. Sarkis Papijean.
Dwight and Mary have had five children: Timothy Ross (deceased), Robert Allen, Janet Faith, Herbert Newton, and Patricia Hope. They have 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren and 2 step-great-great grandchildren.
Siblings include: sister-in-law Agnes Farster of Altoona, and sister Carolyn Stephens and brother Den Lamison - both of Kittanning.
Dwight and Mary have been residents of 442 Stonehouse Road in Kittanning for 64 years.
Dwight was active in the Keystone Quartet from 1958-1964. He worked at Babcock & Wilcox in Ohio in the early 1940s, Eljer from 1944-1966, Logsdon’s Cabinets from 1967 - 1981 and has been a self-employed cabinet maker from 1981 - present.
Mary worked for the Leader Times from 1963-1973 & Big River Manufacturing cafeteria. She was a Den Mother of Cub-scout Troop 631 and was an active member of the Val-Aires gospel singing group from 1965-1970.
They currently attend the Distant Baptist Church.
They will be having an Open House to celebrate their anniversary at Pine Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, April, 23 from 2-4 PM. All friends and well wishers are welcome to attend!
