Family-Life TV Plans On-Air Celebration
On March 7, 1976, Family-Life TV signed on the air for the first time.
Throughout 2016, the station will celebrate its 40th Anniversary with a variety of special programs beginning this Sunday night on it’s flagship program, “Family-Life Sunday Night.”
“The station’s programming was primarily religious when we started,” Family-Life President David J. Croyle said. “I think it is fitting that we begin our celebration with a two-hour celebration of ministry.”
Over the years, the station has become reflective of the local rural culture in Armstrong County, airing community talk shows, high school sports, TV auctions, parades, and much more.
However, it has also become a training facility for college students looking to make their mark in media. This summer, the station will host seven interns from area universities who will learn the basics of broadcasting and journalism.
The on-air celebration will feature special guests Richard and Brenda Fonte from Canton, Ohio. The couple have been involved in church ministry during their lifetime, and Richard has been in broadcasting in the Ohio Valley for more than 25 years.
A quartet from the Mon Valley (below Pittsburgh) in southwest Pennsylvania - Crimson Stream - will provide special music throughout the program. Their blend of southern Gospel music has been heard on the station many times. They travel throughout western Pennsylvania singing in churches and campmeetings.
The expanded two-hour program begins at 8PM Sunday night. It is available on Comcast cable channel 23 in middle Armstrong County, or cable channel 190 throughout the AlleKiski Valley. It can also be viewed on the Internet at: www.familylifetv.com
