Armstrong Middle School “Blue” Hockey Goaltender RT Bowser stopped all 25 shots in a playoff victory Monday evening against Wheeling Catholic.
The result sent the middle school athletes to next week’s championship matchup at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.
Coach David Bowser praised his eighth grade goaltender.
“We played a little tight in our own end early, but RT Bowser was
outstanding again,” Coach Bowser said.
After a scoreless first period, Armstrong scored five goals within 15 minutes between the second and third periods.
Maddox Rearic started the scoring with back-to-back goals past Wheeling Catholic’s DJ Lyons before Ethan Walker, Ethan Prugh and Noah Oliver finished off the victory.
Coach Bowser also praised his defensemen.
Rearic also recorded an assist on Walker’s goal to lead the “Blue” River Hawks in game scoring.
Our defenseman moved the puck up quickly all night while Kade Contrael,Eli Schreckengost, and Lance Quinell all played solid two way games,” Coach Bowser said.
The middle school team registered six wins and two overtime games out of 16 in the regular season, but made it into the Tier III playoffs off of three points in their last two games.
Wednesday’s game starts at 7:20PM in Castle Shannon.
