Usually a hotspot for teenagers under 21 during the weekend, the Radioactive Events Center in downtown Kittanning will be open to all ages for a special show tonight.
Starting at 7PM, Orlando, Fla.-based dark pop band “Blood on the Dance Floor” will make Kittanning the fourth city on their “Reign of Blood” Tour.
Events Center Co-Founder Mark Gibson said officials were contacted by the band’s agency. The band is currently signed to Dark Fantasy Records.
“We get contacted by fans, singers, booking agents, managers, record labels…they contact us to see if we have openings for shows,” Gibson said. “We were very excited to know that they are coming and we’re excited to have them.
“The club is run by musicians. The bands love coming here.”
Gibson’s daughter, Ale, has also reportedly played some of the band’s popular hits.
“(Tuesday) was the only night available for a Pittsburgh stop. We’re normally not open Tuesdays but when the tours come through, a lot of times we just have to take them when they come,” Gibson said. “We definitely try to accommodate people with their work and school schedules, so the shows will start by (7PM) and we’re generally done by 11PM.”
Gibson said followers of the Radioactive Events Center’s online social media pages are excited for tonight’s show. He does not expect the weather to seriously-affect tonight’s turnout.
The Templeton Way/Market Street location is still fundraising to repair a broken furnace, but about half of the total funds needed have been collected.
“It’s nice to see people contributing,” Gibson said. “Every dollar does help. What really gets me is the bands are kicking in too – the bands know how important the venue is.”
Part of the heating system is still working.
According to the band’s online biography, “Blood on the Dance Floor” started out as an electronic band about nine years ago.
Pop Punk Vocalist Eryn Woods and band Player vs Environment also accompany “Blood on the Dance Floor” in the 20-city, nationwide tour that started last week.
Tonight will be an all-ages event but no alcohol will be permitted.
Tickets are $18 each.
