Walking Tour Planned in East Brady

The East Brady Area Development Corporation (EBADC) will host a walking tour of East Brady on Saturday, January 23 from

1:00 – 3:00 PM to identify opportunities for the commercial district to better connect to the nearby Armstrong and Redbank Valley Trails and the Allegheny River. The Armstrong Trail is a 30 mile rail-trail with its northern terminus ending just on the border of downtown East Brady. In addition, the Redbank Valley Trail spins off of the Armstrong Trail just 5 miles south of East Brady providing the opportunity for a different 46 mile route. Along with a boatable river these outdoor assets represent a market opportunity for trail and river serving businesses.

The meeting and assessment is open to the public and will begin at the Allegheny Hills Retirement Residence at 421 Kelly’s Way. It will include a 30 minute introduction, a walking assessment of the business district, and a debriefing discussion on what participants observe out in the community. For the walking portion of the meeting the group will be divided into small teams that will use an assessment checklist that rates overall appearance of the business district, signage, available services and other measures of how prepared the community is to welcome visitors. Participants should dress comfortably. Refreshments will be provided.
