The Armstrong Educational Trust (AET) board of directors at the recommendation of its scholarship committee, approved the awarding of 9 scholarships for area students totaling $27,000.00 this summer.
This represents the organizations largest scholarship allocation since the AET began awarding scholarships in 2004.
This year’s recipients are Cassandra Velcko, Lauren Pyle, Amy Wright, Miranda Lasher, Sydney Hand, Mark Wasilko, Stephanie DeGregorio, Kaitlyn Satterfield and Andrew Hamilton. Andrew Hamilton was awarded the Fred and Helen Ortman scholarship. The remaining eight (8) students were awarded Ralph and Mary Lou McAllister scholarships.
All students will be or are currently working towards a 4-year bachelor’s degree.
“The board is very proud to help these well deserving students in their goal to earn a bachelor’s degree in their area of study. Also, it’s really nice to see students who have been awarded scholarships previously re-apply to see how much they have grown, and hear what they have experienced”, says AET board president, Vickie DeThomas.
Since 2004, the AET has awarded 52 scholarships totalling $133,000.
