Washington Township Motorcycle Crash Kills Latrobe Man

Another fatality was recorded just over the Armstrong County border in Washington County, Westmoreland County.

According to Westmoreland County Coroner, Kenneth A. Bacha, Charles B. Sloan, Jr., 41, of Latrobe, died along State Route 366 at approximately 7:50 AM after a crash earlier that morning.

Sloan, Jr., was the operator and lone occupant of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling west when a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado traveling east crossed the center line into the opposite lane of travel striking the decedent’s motorcycle in a head-on type collision.

Deputy Coroner Sean R. Hribal investigated the incident and pronounced the decedent dead at the scene. Sloan, Jr. was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

An autopsy will be performed, with Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates. The cause and manner of death will be pending autopsy results and further investigation into the cause of the incident.

Washington Township Police also investigated and will release additional details at their discretion.

    I know it would not have helped this soul but wear your helmets guys. And an autopsy is being performed? You would think the cause of death was clearly poor driving in the pick ups part. I know a person is deceased but why spend unnecessary taxpayer money and be so intrusive in a corpse when it is clear what caused the death. A good friend of mine was killed in a bike a few years ago and it made my desire to own a bike go away quickly. What a tragic way to die.
