Police Search for Man Passing Fake Money
An area-wide search in both Armstrong and Westmoreland counties is underway for a man who attempted to pass fake money last night in Vandergrift shortly after 11PM.
A man attempted to pass a counterfeit $50 bill at a convenience store. When the clerk attempted to confront him, he grabbed the counterfeit money and left.
The man is described as medium build, missing front teeth, goatee and a mustache, and wearing a bright orange tee-shirt.
The man was seen getting into an older model silver Chrysler vehicle and sped away in an unknown direction.
There was also another report of possibly the same person trying to short-change an employee earlier at a convenience store in Washington Township, Westmoreland County.
Vandergrift police requested that various police departments throughout the county should check with convenient stores throughout their jurisdiction for more of this type of activity. If located, the law enforcement department was requested to hold the person and contact Vandergrift Police Department.
