Ford City Woman Allegedly Files False Report

A Ford City woman accused of making a false robbery report with Pennsylvania State Police troopers waived her preliminary hearing yesterday.

According to the police report, Corbett, 30 of Fourth Avenue, told State Police troopers she was kidnapped, robbed and assaulted Wednesday, March 18 in West Kittanning Borough.

She also reported in her signed written statement that she was forced into a car at a Sunoco gas station against her will before she was physically assaulted and robbed of $150 before being dropped off in Applewold Borough.

Police interviews determined the incident never occurred, however, and the kidnapping, robbery and assault investigation was determined to be “unfounded.”

Corbett is now charged with making false reports to law enforcement (a second-degree misdemeanor charge) and unsworn falsification to authorities (a third-degree misdemeanor).

She was initially arraigned by District Magisterial Judge James Owen the afternoon of Friday, March 20 on $5,000 unsecured bond and taken to the Armstrong County Jail, but court records showed Corbett posted bond and waived her right to a preliminary hearing alongside Public Defender James Wray yesterday morning.

The case is now waiting to be heard by the Court of Common Pleas.
