Battaglia Charged in Saturday Accident

Armstrong County Commissioner David K. Battaglia is being charged in an accident that occurred on Saturday, February 21 shortly before 3PM.

Battaglia, 56, was driving in 2012 Honda Accord northbound on Route 28/66 in Rayburn Township. He was merging onto Route 85 while driving too fast for the snow-covered roadway. As he was negotiating the right hand turn onto Route 85, he lost control of his vehicle. It slid across the east bound lane and struck a 2014 Jeep Wrangler driven by Andrew J. Crissman, 37, of Kittanning.

Battaglia was not injured. Crissman was not injured, but his passenger, 34-year-old Ray Frabotta of AStabula, OH sustained minor injuries that did not require transport to any medical facility.

Pennsylvania State Police Tropper Thomas Karlo said Battaglia will be cited for driving too fast for conditions. Karlo’s report showed that all three persons were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
