East Franklin Drug Accomplice Sentenced to Probation

After serving potentially additional time in the Armstrong County Jail, an East Franklin Township woman who was arrested in May during an attempted drug sale in Ford City was sentenced to a year of probation.

Cora Ann McElravy, 23, was apprehended with another man suspected of stealing drugs by Ford City Police, in conjunction with Armstrong County Narcotics Enforcement Taskforce (ARMNET) officers and the Armstrong County Sheriff’s Department, May 5, 2014 after an attempted drug sale in the 1300 block of Fourth Avenue, according to Ford City Police Sgt. John Atherton.

Facing six charges - including two felony counts of Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver 149 stamp bags of heroin, two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony count of conspiracy to Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, McElravy pled guilty to possessing heroin during a November court proceeding before Armstrong County Judge James Panchik.

McElravy was the apparent driver of the SUV when officers also found empty stamp bags, other controlled substances – including marijuana and other items of drug paraphernalia – and cash, Sgt. Atherton said.

Judge Panchik made the sentencing ruling yesterday morning in the Armstrong County Courthouse.

McElravy must also refrain from future use or possession of drugs, refrain from entering the premises of any establishment selling alcoholic beverages and perform 30 hours of community service.

According to online court records, any revocation of this sentence will result in incarceration of at least 90 days.

McElravy was also sentenced yesterday to spend up to two years behind bars after receiving stolen property in East Franklin Township in December 2013. She is already credited with nearly 180 days served – the minimum amount of confinement.

The man arrested alongside McElravy in May - Edward Lee Kunst, of Dime Road (Alternate 66) in Ford City – is awaiting future court proceedings. A motion to suppress physical evidence was denied in December and no plea has yet been made
