Lane Closure Planned at Kiddyland Bridge

Construction on the Kiddyland Bridge in Rayburn Township will continue during the Memorial Day weekend and close one lane of travel. Motorists are urged to obey all traffic signals and roadway signs.

Motorists can expect single-lane traffic during the Memorial Day Weekend - Friday, May 25, through Monday, May 28 at the Kiddyland Park Bridge project in Rayburn Township.

Motorists are urged to obey all roadway signs and the temporary traffic signal on Route 28 at the bridge, which crosses over the Cowanshannock Creek.

Motorists can expect delays and should use caution when traveling through the project limits. The temporary traffic signals and traffic control devices are in-place for the safety of the workers and the public.

In the event of flagging operations, motorists are urged to slow down, use caution and pay attention to flaggers. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminds motorists that fines are doubled in work zones.

Access to the Armstrong County Jail and to Twin Pines, Marsha’s Place, and Circle K Gulf Station will be provided.

This structurally-deficient bridge carrying Route 28 over the Cowanshannock Creek will be replaced with a two-lane, single span steel, multi-girder bridge. This replacement will prevent having to weight restrict the old bridge.

This $2.5 million bridge replacement project is being completed by Francis J. Palo, Inc., of Clarion and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2013.
