OBIT: Gladys Larue Cravener (Elderton)

Gladys Larue Cravener, 91, died on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

She was born on February 14, 1919, in Rural Valley, PA, the daughter of Samuel and Nettie (Wampler) Wingard.

Mrs. Cravener was a life time resident of Elderton along with her husband, Clair, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She was a member of the Elderton Presbyterian Church and she was the Cafeteria Manager of Elderton High School for 24 years. Gladys was also a member of the Elderton Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved cooking, playing cards, arranging flowers, shopping and visiting with friends and family.

She will best be remembered for being a loving mother and a classy grandmother. Gladys was very dedicated to her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Leonard Cravener and wife Dot of Shelocta; a daughter, Loretta Coleman and husband Robert of Spring Church; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clair D. Cravener, whom she married August 10, 1938 and who died July 24, 2005; one grandchild; three brothers, Orv, Scott and Ellsworth Wingard; and two infant sisters.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, in Elderton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the Elderton Presbyterian Church, 115 North Main Street, Elderton, PA the Rev. Edward Gray officiating.

Burial will follow in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, Pennsylvania.
