OBIT: Jesse Clawson (Indiana, PA)
Jesse Clawson, 85, of Indiana, PA, died on October 14, 2010, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 18, 1925, in Vandergrift, the son of Charles G. and Goldie G. (Wilson) Clawson.
Mr. Clawson was a member of the West Lebanon Church of God. Jesse was a lifelong resident of Indiana with the exception of his military service where he honorably served his country in the US Army as a MP during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Dominion Peoples, formerly known as Consolidated Gas for 30 years as a Well Tenderer prior to his retirement in March, 1987.
Among Jesse’s circle of family and friends, he was known for his social nature and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. His life was blessed by many steadfast friendships through his work acquaintances and his weekly visits to the mall. Everyone knew him as someone who could always tell a great story or joke, and for his fondness of horses and his many pets. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, and good friend, and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he has touched.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory three sons; Ken Clawson and his wife Susan of Kittanning, Rodney Clawson and his wife Janet and Jerry Clawson and his wife Tina, all of Indiana; a daughter, Terry Zimmerman and her fiancé Tom Miller of Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jaclyn Minor and her husband Aaron of Ebensburg, Nick Clawson of Sarver, Eric Clawson and his wife Cindy of Johnson City, TN, Douglas Clawson and his wife Ashley of Houston, TX, Amanda and Kelly Zimmerman and Chad Clawson, all of Indiana; two step-grandchildren, Kelly Wyatt of Natrona Heights and Karie Smith of Kittanning; a great-grandchild, Mackensie Clawson of Houston, TX; and his brother, Gerald G. Clawson and his wife Mabel of Gastown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Goldie L. (Riggle) Clawson, whom he married June 21, 1952 and who died September 14, 1966; and his brother, Charles Clawson.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home in Elderton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 18, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Bradford L. Lauster, officiating.
Burial will follow in South Bend Cemetery in South Bend Township.
