Donna Brown Kimmy
Donna Jean Brown Kimmy, 67, of Jacksonville, Florida (formerly of Kittanning), passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born on July 15, 1943 in Greenville, South Carolina to Don and Mildred (Savelle) Young.
She was last employed as a cashier at Big Lots in Jacksonville. Previously she had worked as an advertising representative for the “Trading Post” publication, the Kittanning Paper, and Family-Life TV in Kittanning.
She was of the Christian faith.
She loved crafts, flowers, gardens, and arts. She wrote an column she called “The Crafty Lady” during her employment with the Trading Post.
She is survived by her two sons: James E. (and Dawn) Brown and Michael K. (Kelly) Brown – both of West Sunbury; one daughter Tanya (and Scott) Emigh) of Worthington; nine grandchildren: Michael B. Kelly, Kayla Kelly, Hanna Kelly, Harley Stors, Corey Brown, Justin Pons, Tessa Brown, Shane Rosencrance, and Kayla Rosencrance; one sister Marsha Yarbrough of Jacksonville, Florida; her first husband Michael Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband and life-long friend James E. Brown.
Her family could never diminish the fighting spirit she displayed during her long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She never lost her creativity and sense of humor she gave to others.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 PM Sunday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington, where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11AM with the Reverend David Croyle officiating.
Interment will be at the Salem (Hills) Church Cemetery.
