PUZ: With the 18th Pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers select…

Sports Commentary by Chad Puz
With the draft a little less then a week away, I thought I would give my prediction of who the Steelers will pick at the 18th spot in this year’s draft. A lot could happen between now and then. Some people think the Steelers could trade Big Ben, which I really don’t see happening. I could see the Steelers making a trade to move up, they have 11 picks this year and I don’t see them using all of them. Now the hard part of trying to pick who the Steelers take is that Mike Tomlin has taken the best available over what needs the team has. Rashard Mendenhall is great example of this, he was on still on the board when it was the Steelers turn so Tomlin took him.
The Steelers top needs right now are cornerback, defensive end, and left tackle. Like I’ve already said, the Steelers could trade up in the draft and I have a feeling they will(Note: I don’t think they trade into the top 10). Since they haven’t made a trade to move up, I’ll make my prediction for the 18th pick after I tell you about some people that I like in the first round.
Some people think that Trent Williams, offensive tackle, out of Oklahoma could fall to the Steelers, but I’m doubtful that he falls lower then the 8th spot. One person that I really like in this year’s draft is Joe Haden, cornerback, out of Florida, but unless the Steelers trade up for him he will be gone by the time they pick. One other secondary person I like is Eric Berry, strong safety, out of Tennessee. Berry had 14 interception in three years.
With those people out of the way and off the board I think that the Steelers take Kyle Wilson, cornerback, out of Boise State. Wilson had 11 interception in his four years at Boise, last year he had 3 and ran 2 back for touchdowns. He also has a background in kick off and punt returning. I think the only down side toWilson is that he has trouble with helping to stop the run, but I think he will be a great addition to the Steelers.
