A Plumcreek Township man died yesterday morning following a two-vehicle collision just a few miles across the County line.

Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth A. Bacha revealed yesterday that Anthony J. Reefer, 23 of Plumcreek Township, was fatally injured after his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer along State Route 66 in Washington Township (Westmoreland County).

According to the coroner’s report, Reefer’s 2011 Kawasaki Ninja was traveling south when it collided with a tractor-trailer traveling north and attempting to make a left turn onto State Route 366. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the tractor-trailer and Reefer was separated from the motorcycle.

Bacha reported that Deputy Coroner Joshua Zappone investigated the incident and pronounced Reefer dead on-scene less than an hour later due to blunt force injuries to the head, neck and chest.

Washington Township Police have ruled the crash accidental, even though speed and weather conditions are believed to be factors in the fatal crash.

An autopsy will not be performed, and toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.
