Undefeated Girls` Volleyball Teams Prepare for State Tournament

Both Armstrong School District girls’ volleyball teams are headed to the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League tournament.
The undefeated West Shamokin Lady Wolves and Armstrong Lady River Hawks topped their respective classes during the regular season and will try to go further in the WPIAL tournament that starts tonight.
The undefeated Lady Wolves (who won Section 3-AA) will get an extra few practices before they match-up with a play-in game winner Thursday night at Norwin High School (Westmoreland County)
The Lady River Hawks – which combined leaders from both Ford City and Kittanning after the two schools merged for this school year – were awarded the No. 7 ranking in Class AAA after winning Section 4-AAA.
They will face off against Connellsville at 6PM tomorrow night in Hempfield (Westmoreland County).
The winner of the three matches faces the winner of North Allegheny/Canon McMillan. North Allegheny also finished their section with an undefeated regular-season record.
All matches lead to the November 7 championships at Baldwin.
The first round of the PIAA playoffs begins November 10.
