Two local fundraisers held this weekend battled heat in the 90s.

In Kittanning, the K-9 Kruize Aid was held in Riverfront Park by Armstrong County Sheriff Bill Rupert. The department hopes to purchase a dog that will be used in the detection of drugs.

Rupert said he hoped at least $3,000 would be raised during the event.

In Ford City, the fire department along with the Renaissance Community Partnership conducted a street fair.

Both featured live music and booths, but in Ford City, wild animals became the main attraction on stage.

Wild World of Animals Trainer Emily Nuffer from Eightyfour, PA had twelve animals on display during her presentation.

Manor Township friends Brandon Goldinger and Jordan Callipare - both 8-years-old - look at the miniature police car exhibited in Kittanning on Sunday.

“We provide educational and entertaining wild animal shows for a variety of audiences. Our main goal is to educate adults & children on their habitats, how they don’t make good pets, and what to do if you ever encounter a wild animal in your own life.”

The Ford City event raised money to fund a Christmas lighting event this November. on Ford Street.
