Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency who were scheduled to attend last night’s meeting were unable to present more information regarding the new flood insurance rate maps due to heavy snowfall in Philadelphia during this past weekend.

However, Borough Manager Eden Ratliff said representatives plan to be at the February 8 regular meeting – scheduled to be held at 6:30PM at the Latin American Club along Third Avenue.

Council President Carol Fenyes hoped residents who attended last night’s meeting and were disappointed they were not able to find out more information were able to attend next month.

She said council members just found out yesterday representatives would not be able to attend.

Councilman Ray Klukan and other elected representatives did praise Borough street workers for properly maintaining roadways during the weekend snowstorm.

In December, Gibson-Thomas Engineering’s Doug Siler explained to residents that “a lot” of homeowners will be affected.

At the time, Councilwoman Vicki Schaub predicted “easily” an additional $800 financial burden.

The flood maps become effective February 17.
