OBIT: Dorothy J. Sedwick (Kittanning)

Dorothy J. Sedwick, 90, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

She was born July 9, 1926 in Kane, PA, the daughter of Ernest and Mamie (Armstrong) Corbett.

Dorothy graduated from Kittanning High School in 1944 and lived in the area most of her life. She was of the Protestant faith and loved caring for her home and family. Dorothy was a member of the former Sunnyside Home Extension group and in her free time enjoyed canning and knitting. She also loved camping with her husband, Don, and had fond memories of their many trips together. Dorothy was a beloved mother and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Her memory will be cherished by her son, Doug Sedwick and wife, Amy, of Kittanning; granddaughter, Renee Good and husband, Ira, of Chicora; and great-granddaughter, Danika Good.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 69 years, Donald J. Sedwick, whom she married January 26, 1946 and who died September 20, 2015; brothers, Earl and James Corbett; and sisters, Myrna Reesman and Liefa Rhea.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Peters officiating.

Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.

OBIT: Elaine J. Cornman (Boggs Township)

Elaine Cornman

Elaine J. Cornman, 84, of Boggs Township, PA, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 13, 1932 in Kittanning, PA, the daughter of Wayne E. and Eva R. (Waugaman) Jamieson.

Elaine graduated from Kittanning High School in 1949 and worked for the Kittanning Phone Company prior to becoming a mother. She was a member of Pine Creek Baptist Church where she taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. Elaine also attended the First Baptist Church in Kittanning and Franklin Union Baptist Church in Worthington.

She had a beautiful smile, loved laughter and making people laugh. Elaine was blessed with many gifts. She was a talented artist and painted many beautiful oil paintings, and was also a talented seamstress. Elaine had a green thumb and loved flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed reading. In later years, Elaine liked playing crazy eights and completing word searches. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Little House on the Prairie, and spending time with her family.

The one thing that remained constant throughout her life was her faith, love and trust in the Lord. She had the greatest love for her family, friends, caregivers and anyone who was blessed to know her. Most of all, Elaine loved Jesus. She was an inspiration and blessing to all and her legacy of love will live on.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, K. Glenn Cornman, whom she married February 9, 1951; son, Alan Cornman and wife, Marilyn; daughter, Debbie Bowser and husband, Curt; grandchildren, Ryan Bowser and wife, Larin, Derek Bowser, Adam Bowser, Emily Elaine Cornman, Kile Cornman ; and great-grandchildren, Rowan Bowser and Willow Elaine Bowser.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Jamieson; and sisters, Alice Alcorn and Marion Gillis.

Her family members give their sincere thanks to Karen Wilson, who has been Elaine’s beloved caregiver for the past 18 years. They would also like to thank Kaitlyn, Marguerite, Katie and also the other former caregivers who have been such a blessing to Elaine and her family.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 North McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Franklin Union Baptist Church, 106 Century Hill Lane, Worthington, PA, with Pastor Aaron Walp and Pastor Scott Jones co-officiating.

Interment will be in Concord Cemetery, Dayton, PA.
