This May 2019 KP File Photo shows the massive deterioration of the Craigsville Bridge.
Road work that began to the Craigsville Bridge on June 3, 2019 is now coming to an end.
PennDOT replaced the existing structure carrying State Route (SR) 4035 (Craigsville Road) over Buffalo Creek with a single-span composite steel plate girder bridge.
The work was expected to be done by the end of November, but took a month longer than expected. The bridge was reopened yesterday to traffic, although minor work will continue as weather permits. Workers from Mekis Construction will complete mechanical texturing on the deck that reportedly will assist in pushing water away from vehicle tires, resulting in better traction.
The congregation of McKee Chapel United Methodist Church and local residents have been greatly affected by the bridge closure and were excited to see it reopen.

While there is still cleanup work to finish, the new Craigsville Bridge opened yesterday after being closed for six months.
