Kittanning Borough Council Approves Hiring of Apollo Woman

Kittanning Councilman Joe Kiehlmeier was the deciding vote that hired Apollo resident Jerrilyn Mollick as the Borough’s Assistant Secretary.

It took two rounds of voting before Kittanning Borough Council finally approved the hiring of an Apollo woman to serve as the Assistant Secretary.

The first vote to hire Jerrilyn Mollick did not pass the seven council members in attendance. Council persons Betsy Wilt, Scott Davis, and Kim Chelsea was outvoted by David Croyle, Joe Kiehlmeier, Mike Johns, and Andy Peters.

An executive session was called to discuss the vote. When Council reconvened and the vote was taken again, Joe Kiehlmeier changed his mind and voted in favor of the hire. Kiehlmeier did not explain his change of position on the hire.

Mollick’s previous jobs included accounts payable clerk for a Tarentum business, a finance clerk at ACMH Hospital, and a patient services manager at an Apollo rehabilitation facility.

She has an associates degree from the Community College of Allegheny County.

Mollick will work between 20-25 hours per week, four days per week, as directed by the Borough Manager Cyndee McDermott. She will not receive any paid time off or benefits in this employment position.

Personnel Committee Chairman Scott Davis said her duties will include general office work, including typing, filing, and such other administrative duties as the Borough Manager may direct.

Davis said a total of eight persons applied for the job. Only one was from the immediate area.
