The race is on between two candidates in Kittanning’s Third Ward.
Incumbent Kim Chiesa, who also serves as council president, was the only name on the Republican ballot, drawing 96 votes. However, there were 37 write-in votes.
Meanwhile, Democratic challenger, Alan “Butch” Puccetti, a retired Kittanning policeman, received 56 votes. There were 14 write-in votes on that ballot.
This sets the stage for a hotly contested race between the two candidates this November.
