11/28/1967 – Winchester Truby, 41, from Vandergrift RD2 was free on bond today over the stabbing of an Apollo woman last night. Catherine DeVaux, owner of DeVaux Tavern at 907 North Warren Avenue, is listed in fair condition at Citizens General Hospital in New Kensington.

11/28/1967 – Among those bagging their deer included Ed Schrecengost, 13, who set the pace for his father, Blair Schawl, when he bagged an 8-point 160-pound buck at 11AM in the Templeton area. Ricky Cochran, 12 of Ford Cliff shot a 7-point 145-pounder in Plumcreek Township; Michael Martin, 12, of Templeton RD1 shot a 6-point 160-pound buck at noon along Oscar Road; John Curry McCutcheon, 13, of Vandergrift RD2 shot a 10-point 130-pound buck at 7:15 AM near Snyderville; Gregg Rupp, 13, of Templeton RD1 bagged a 9-point 190-pound buck at 1:30 PM near Baum Pump Station; Dave Rupert, 12, of 365 North Grant Avenue Kittanning got his first buck, a one-point 140-pounder at 8:24 AM in Redbank; Robert Venesky, 13, of Arthur Street, West Kittanning, four-point 125-pound buck at 4:35 PM near Shay; Sue Bowser, 17, of Kittanning RD3, an 8-point 180-pound buck at 8:05 AM on the C. L. Bowser farm; Tom Garner, 13, of Dayton RD2, an 8-point 130-pound buck at 7:15 AM near Oscar; Stanley Rusnica Jr, 18, of NuMine, an 8-point 130-pound in Oscar; Allen Yount, 15, of Manorville, a three-point 100 pound buck in Marienville; and John Caldwell, 13, of New Bethlehem RD2, a two-point 118-pounder at 8:05 AM in Boggs Township.

11/28/1967 – A fire killed a small bulldog and destroyed a gasoline service station at 3:35 PM yesterday along the Ford City-Cadogan Road. Walker Service Station was gutted, merchandise ruined and equipment and parts of the exterior charred. Owner Kenneth Walker had been summoned by a motorist whose car had stalled about a quarter-mile away. He locked the station to aid the motorist.

11/28/1962 – Kittanning Town Councilmen made plans today to ask federal financial help on a $48,000 plus playground construction program.

11/28/1962 – Efforts to get outside funds for expansion of facilities at Armstrong County Home on Rural Valley Road will go into high gear this week, with area officials scheduled to meet with state and federal authorities.

11/28/1962 - A new pastor, Rev. Richard T. Ebel of Attica, NY, will deliver his first sermon on Sunday as pastor of the Brick Church Lutheran parish.

11/28/1952 – A Rural Valley area man employed by a construction company working on the new Schenley-Leechburg Road was killed when crushed beneath limestone spreading equipment. He was Paul W. Gress, 55, of Rural Valley RD1.

11/28/1952 - Workmen are aiming for near completion of the large courtroom at Armstrong County Courthouse so that civil court could be held there Monday.

11/28/1947 – Military funeral services for Sgt. Melvin A. Juntz repatriated World War II victim, were held at his home on Hawthorne Avenue, Kittanning.

11/28/1942 – Swamped with thousands of applications for “B” and “C” supplemental gas ration coupon books, the War Price and Ration Board called upon Armstrong County motorists to be patient while a force of men and women prepare extra rations for those qualifying for them.

11/28/1942 – With practically every man in the plant making a donation, employees at Graff – Kittanning Clay Products Company at Craigsville contributed $102 to the current United Service Organization (USO) campaign.

11/28/1932 – Miss Catherine Taylor, 16, who was injured Nov. 17 in an auto accident on Kittanning-Butler Road near Walkchalk, was discharged from the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

11/28/1932 – Rec. S. S. Shaulis preached his farewell sermon at the Lutheran Church, Worthington, bringing to a close a 3-1/2 year pastorate at the church. Mr. Shaulis and family left for Vandergrift, where he will take up duties as pastor of First Lutheran Church.

11/28/1927 – Members of St. Luke’s Reformed Church voted unanimously to extend a pastoral call to Rev. Charles L. Noss of Manor.

11/28/1927 – Work has started on remodeling of the Colwell mansion, Arch at McKean Street for conversion into five apartments.
