10/11/1968 – It took two votes at two different meetings, but the Armstrong School District approved the Ellermeyer tract of land at a cost of $200,000 for use as a senior high school. The school would accommodate anticipated enrollment of 2,000 on the site that contains a total of 143 acres – but only 90 usable acres. The property is located in East Franklin Township near the proposed intersection with the Allegheny Valley Expressway.

10/11/1938 - A 13 year old schoolgirl is confined to her home today as the result of shock, cuts, and bruises which she suffered in a wild 50 foot plunge down a steep hillside near her home. She is June Bentley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bentley of Garfield St., West Kittanning. June was gathering up autumn leaves, along the top of the hill with several other schoolgirl friends, when she tripped over a log and rolled headlong down the steep hillside.
10/11/1933 - A contract for construction of a new 10 room brick home on the J.M. Reed property, a mile from Kittanning on the Worthington Rd., has been awarded by Reed to R.E. Booher, West Kittanning contractor. O.C. Rairigh was architect on the first new building.
