Armstrong Golfer Competes in WPIAL Finals

Adam Cippel was the last River Hawks standing in the WPIAL AAA Golf Finals at Nemacolin Golf Course in Washington County. The WPIAL team playoffs are set to start next Tuesday.

The WPIAL AAA Golf Finals took place yesterday, and Armstrong Senior Adam Cippel was the lone River Hawk out of 36 other WPIAL AAA golfers to make the cut.

Cippel was able to make the finals by scoring a 78 in the semi-finals at Links Spring Church Golf Course - that score tied for 16th in the Semi-Finals.

Adam was unable to move forward in the individual tournament, he finished with a score of 86 at Nemacolin.

“It was always a goal every season, to make it to the finals, but with this year being my last (High School season) it hit me that if I have to do it – I have to do it this year,” Cippel said.

Though the WPIAL Individual Tournament is over, WPIAL Teams is coming up and after posting an 11-4 record Armstrong is poised for success.

“We have played a lot better this season, we knew we had a good team. If we all prepare well going into it and then stay on assignment we should have a good showing out there.

Adam looks to continue playing golf in college while he works toward a degree in Pharmacy.

The River Hawks will start the team WPIAL tournament next Tuesday at a course that is yet to be determined.
