Benny Bartley, 6, from East Franklin Township enjoyed racing on the inflatable slide. It was one of two slides set up for children at this year’s Christock.
This is the sixth year for Christian churches coming together for a community event at Kittanning Riverfront Park.
Dubbed as “Christock,” the day was all about family and friends enjoying various activities including musical celebrations by various Christian performers.
Joshua Webb is associate pastor of Intersect ion Community Church in Butler but lives locally.
“It’s just an event to bring churches together, and family and friends together in Jesus’ name.”
The event included booths by various churches that offered everything from books to water. The Salvation Army had their food truck there and many booths offered games such as Bible Bingo.
Two huge inflatable slides gave children a place to expend their energy. Webb said it has been a part of the Christock experience the last few years.
“We have been doing them for the last four years. It’s all about the people coming together as different churches and nobody is turned away. Everybody is welcome.”
Webb said each year, more local churches become a part of the event, including both Catholic and Protestant churches.
“The first year there were four (churches). After that, it just kept getting bigger and bigger each year and turned into what you see today.”
Webb estimated approximately 3,000 people attended this year’s gathering which was on Saturday, September 30.
