The last Armstrong Homecoming Court that will stand in the downtown Kittanning field were assembled during Friday night’s game against Plum. Next year, the River Hawks will play at their new athletic field adjacent to the high school in Manor Township.
During halftime of the Armstrong River Hawks’ 27-14 victory over the Plum Mustangs, the Homecoming King and Queen were crowned. Nate Baillie won the King’s crown while Kenzie Lasher was named Queen.
The River Hawks varsity football team got the win they needed on Friday night over the Plum Mustangs, as Armstrong looked dominant through most of the game - winning 27-14 on Homecoming night.
The River Hawks started the game off a bit on the slow side - after one quarter the score was still knotted up at 0-0. However, the Armstrong offense would ignite in the second quarter.
Armstrong was able to put up 20 points in the second quarter thanks to the longest play of the year for the River Hawks offense, an 80 yard touchdown run from Dawson Porter. Armstrong also scored on two touchdown passes from Porter - the first was to Devin Goodgasell (9 yard TD pass) and the second was a nice 30 yard TD pass to Ryan Pearce.
In the second half, the score would remain 20-0 until the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the Mustangs finally got on the board, but Armstrong’s Isaac Ridinger was able to score his first varsity touchdown on a 15 yard run. Ridinger finished with 10 carries for 61 yards in the biggest game of the sophomore running-backs career so far.
