The drive through the downtown Kittanning Business District is about to get smoother.

Starting in mid July, Shields Asphalt Paving Inc. will begin work on the reconstruction of portions of South Grant Avenue, McKean and Jefferson Streets and the South Jefferson Street Parking Lot.

The project will also entail installation of ADA improvements. Shortly after, R&B Contracting and Excavation will begin work on Mulberry Street and the McKean Street Parking Lot. In order to reduce the impact on the residents and businesses, the majority of the work will be completed between 6PM and 6AM.

Detour signs will be in place for vehicular traffic as well as pedestrian traffic while the work is being completed.

The paving projects are being funded by an Appalachian Regional Commission Grant, a Southwest Pennsylvania Commission Smart Transportation Grant and a Keystone Communities Grant.
