The Armstrong River Hawks baseball and softball team is done with the scrimmages and now they will play host today, opening day of the 2017 season.
The plan is to use the newly constructed baseball and softball fields on the Armstrong Jr/Sr High campus - the fields have a turf infield and a grass outfield.
The River Hawks baseball team went a perfect 2-0 in scrimmages before the season, first a 12-2 win Tuesday against Knoch and most recently the River Hawks baseball team defeated Burrell 11-2 Thursday afternoon.
Both the varsity baseball and softball teams will play at 3:45 PM. The baseball team will host Freeport while the softball team will take on Indiana.
After the varsity teams play, the JV baseball and softball teams will play and that is set for approximately 5:15 PM (softball) and 5:45 PM (baseball).
Along with the baseball and softball teams, the River Hawks Boys volleyball team is set to take on Deer Lakes at home with JV kicking off the action at 6:00 PM and varsity playing afterwards at 7:00 PM.
