A Mercer inmate was to be formally arraigned at the Armstrong County Courthouse yesterday for breaking into five Armstrong County homes in 2015.

After police investigation, Matthew Beiter – 31 – is charged with felony criminal trespass, burglary and theft charges after a string of home burglaries in North Buffalo, South Buffalo, West Franklin and East Franklin Townships.

The first two burglaries occurred at the beginning of November 2015.

In all, Beiter is accused of stealing nearly $11,000 worth of items such as flat-screen televisions, watches and other jewelry and an iPhone.

Police have recovered stolen items before Beiter was incarcerated in the regional state correctional institution. He admitted to committing the crimes.

Beiter was previously-arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Owen of Kittanning in January on $10,000 bail for each alleged incident.
