The Armstrong River Hawks varsity wrestling team hosted the Butler Golden Tornadoes Wednesday night in their last home match before their section individuals tournament.
The River Hawks Josh Shaner was able to pick up the lone Armstrong win, aside from a forfeit. Shaner was able to come back late in the third to earn a 7-5 victory at 152 lbs.
After the match, Shaner explained how he pulled out the win.
“Me on top, I’m better and I know what to do and the other kid just sat there and let me do what I wanted, pretty much. There was a couple times when I was worried, because he caught me on my hip, but I fought that off and came back to win,” Shaner said.
The River Hawks will have one more non-section match-up, which will be away on February 15th at Knock. Start time is set for 6:00 JV and 7:15 for varsity.
