Since there’s no category for the topic, I’ll just commandeer this article for my comment.
In the past weekend edition, there was a poem that did not appear online unless you open the actual edition. Anyhow, the author hit the nail on the head with past commissioners and their hired ‘managers’.
“Lawsuits cost taxpayers money that robs - These wouldn’t happen if leaders did their jobs.”
Recall all of the past lawsuits - the Crissman thing, the 911 thing, the pornogate thing, and so forth. The solution, on the 911 thing, was to fire an employee rather than the manager of the area. Had commissioners done their job properly, that area manager would have been toast. We have irresponsible people in jobs of great responsibility - send them packing and reinstate the lady’s job, with back pay, full pension allowance, and so forth.
You know, people are really beating up on the present young commissioners and I’m very pleased with them. What’s the difference? These guys are taking actions to guard the welfare of the taxpayers - they realize that losing entities need to be trimmed/eliminated - and they’re taking that action.
“If these commissioners are going to be there, I won’t be there.” Okay. “These commissioners are cutting jobs, cutting this, cutting that. I don’t like them.” “What’s in it for you?” “My wife works for the county and she’s about to lose her job - I don’t like these commissioners.” “You see anything wrong with a county whose largest employer is county government?” All of a sudden, the conversation goes quiet.
Need to go through that 911 fiasco with a broom.

Well, let’s try, again, to get this in the ‘top five’. Let’s get the conversation going.

Let’s put this under ‘Commissioners’ office’ in the News Room index.
