Former Worthington Office Workers Plead Guilty to Theft Charges
A pair of women charged for stealing from their Worthington employer in September 2015 has pled guilty.
Last week, Victoria Keys, 53 of Adrian, and Amy Lloyd, 43 of Kittanning both pled guilty to three first-degree misdemeanor charges - theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to commit such and access device fraud - waiving the need for a jury trial.
Both former office employees of Toy Pipeline Contractors, Inc. – a family owned and operated excavation company locally based along Claypoole Road - were charged with more than a half-dozen counts of theft and unlawful computer use after a 2015 incident where both women allegedly cashed unauthorized checks, spent with company credit cards and issued each other pay increases
In the original criminal affidavit of probable cause, Lloyd – the former accounts receivable secretary – was accused of stealing more than $270,000, while Keys stole about a quarter of that - $71,000.
A 2015 financial audit report detailed the total of more than 130 unauthorized checks cashed, fuel card swipes and raises between January 2013 and November 2014.
At her court appearance last week, Keys was sentenced by Court of Common Pleas President Judge Kenneth Valasek to 10 years of probation and 60 months – five years – in the county Intermediate Punishment Program, with electronic monitoring for six months. She was also ordered to pay appropriate fines and costs, including $58,000 in restitution.
Lloyd was also sentenced by Judge Valasek to a decade of probation and 60 months in the county Intermediate Punishment Program – with electronic monitoring for six months. Lloyd will pay more than $111,000 in total restitution costs – however, court records show $75,000 of that has already been paid.
Both women were also ordered not to contact their former employer or their families.
