No sense of taking swipes at any other paper. There’s more information in one copy of them than in a month of kp’s. 2 stories and a sports article ain’t much of a daily news report, there’s always more than that going on. Then there’s the inaccuracies….

Let’s look at it another way. The other ( real ) papers could say something like. We gave our employees the day off with pay to celebrate the holiday and enjoy, while the other paper forced people to work. Yet, they didn’t .

Interesting observation, Rainbow Rider - cutting up election. As I recall, my only negative comment was when the Republican committee threated the 8 candidates that ‘they’d distance themselves from the party’ if they chose to attend the DKI meet the candidates night instead of attending the republican committee meeting. And 4 of the 8 candidates went to the DKI event - I was first to sign up.

But. please, enlighten us on what else I might have cut up on the election.

Rainbow, Jonathan Weaver is in the journalism business. Young guy, learning the trade. Does a great job for the KP. If I correct him, I see it as helping him - you are offended - if Jonathan was offended, I’d expect him to tell me so. There’s the problem with you liberals - easily-offended and needing something to whine about.

‘Party pick’ - surely, you’re not so naïve to think that ‘the party’ doesn’t have its pick. Surely. The republican party’s pick was Jason Renshaw all along. Mike Baker, attending one of Jason’s fundraiser dinners even called for Jason to be governor or president. Info - Mike Baker is Armstrong county republican committee chairman. And, for the democrats, it was Pat Fabian, the party’s choice - clearly.

But 15 people went after it because this county needs a lot of help. 15 people could see that clearly and so could many voters. After one year in office, I give the 3 young guys a passing grade. Fabian seems to lead well and he comes across quite conservative - to me, that’s good. Jason seems to be a follower - I don’t see leadership there. George needs to grow a beard like the other two. It does seem as though his Edgar Snyder slogan is accurate - experience matters - because he’s seen what needs fixed in that courthouse and in this county.

I had a good time with the commissioner run. Sorry that you seem to be offended by it all. Of course, liberals are easily-offended.

I agree with you about Mr. Weaver. He’s learning the business and doing it well. I sort of agree with you about the commissioners. They are better than I expected them to be, and will hopefully get better with time. I cannot help but think that the libs’ problem with the KP stem from the fact that they allow conservative views to be read. As for the county, there are times when I feel hopeless. We desperately need leaders who are willing to get down and dirty. A good start would be to do everything in their power to block the stadium. We can’t afford it.

We simply reported the obvious… as they did today with the main headline: “Courthouse closed for New Year’s” and a re-worked news release that Mr. Andreassi did to make sure his story count was being met. I didn’t call them names - as other posters here do. As far as the KP being a bulletin…. I’m thankful you have decided that our “bulletin” is worthy of your daily local news. Try posting about an article to the LT website…. oh wait… you have to PAY to get on their website… and even if you do, posting by readers is just another thing they don’t offer. cartman, on your county comment, I agree wholeheartedly. We are in trouble and that conversation needs to be moved under the ASD category. That mistake on the hill is just too much - a simple choir concert filled the parking lot - it was a traffic jam getting in because people didn’t know enough to get out of the driving lane and into ANY one of the parking lanes fingers. And going out was much worse dealing with that light on the hillside. A sports complex will completely overpower that one way in/out road. Such poor, poor planning and this board prides itself on their accomplishment with your money.

An off ramp and an on ramp from/to the Kittanning off ramp from 422 westbound would make traffic flow like modern traffic designs do, but the PennDOT engineering office would hemorrhage over something like that. The response would probably go something like this :”You can’t do off/on ramps to an off ramp - that’s absurd and we’d have accidents all over the place. We didn’t put that school there, your local school board did.”

So, cartman, who do we appeal to about this sports stadium and how to pay for it? Jeff Pyle? Don White? Donna Oberlander? The ASD school board? Tom Wolf? Donald Trump? Who do we appeal to about this sports stadium?

9 people will decide that for us. And people wonder why referendums are necessary. Buckle up!

I appreciate the Kittanning Paper and being permitted to comment. It’s a free country, for now…but, I still hate having to tolerate reading some of the closed-minded, backward, and pompous comments from some.

The KP is not a formal newspaper, but many of those are going online anyway. The Leader Times does not have the quality that it used to have when Mike O’Hare was the editor. I miss him greatly.

We should always have hard copies of news, in case our grid system gets attacked. How will we know what is happening? Never get rid of newsprint!

We should not fully depend on digital ANYTHING.
Banking should go back to the ledger system.

Top secret American information should be sent personally or by by protected mail delivery.

And maybe Jorn could be the town crier if our electric goes out. Here ye; here ye… Here ye only what I want ye to hear…

Sadly, you are probably right that there is no avenue of appeal over the stadium. Consolidation was absolutely necessary. However, it should have been done with existing buildings and facilities. The board just never learns. I guess that is what happens when you are spending other people’s money. Even if the world’s best candidate got elected to the board, he or she would only be one vote.

cartman, the school topic belongs under ASD category, not when the KP publishes or does not publish, so we’ll hear it from the whiners. Let them whine.

This district did need consolidation - it was only 50 years behind other districts in these river valleys. In a declining enrollment market, they needed consolidated into the best of existing buildings/sites. Clear to intelligent people. Perhaps they really believed that if they build it, they will come - forget that for this area. Work brings them, not a shiny new school building.

“I guess that is what happens when you are spending other peoples’ money.” That’s exactly why we need referendums on spendings like this - those of us that have to pay for it should have a voice in it other than 9 elected people. Same goes for the circus tent that West Franklin Township is about to buy to protect the anti-skid that I wrote about under the North Buffalo Township truck leaking gasoline article - you can’t trust that type of expenditure to just 3 elected supervisors being led by a roadmaster. People, taxpayers, in west Franklin Township, don’t even know this is going to happen until that ugly thing appears in the front yard of the Township property right along Butler Road.

“Even if the world’s best candidate got elected to the board, he or she would only be one vote.” Yes, but that one vote needs to be heard. That would stop this well-rehearsed unanimous voting at the public meetings. That latest teachers’ contract was slid through in such a stealth fashion that people in attendance at the public meeting didn’t even know it was being voted on - the agenda line item under personnel, PERS, was blank. That is an absolutely disgraceful way to treat those paying the bill. Where are the school boards’ police hanging out? Sunshine, Sunsmine law - they just laugh at it.
