The West Shamokin Wolves (5-5) lost their first home game of the year last week in double overtime. This week the Wolves found themselves in double OT again against the Ferndale Yellow Jackets (4-6) this time coming out on top 36-30.
Like last week the Wolves lead until the fourth quarter and heading into halftime West Shamokin was up 16-0.
In the second half however the Yellow Jackets made some adjustments and came storming back.
Ferndale would score early in the third and the Wolves would answer to make the score 24-8. However the rest fourth quarter belonged to Ferndale.
The Yellow Jackets tied the game late in the fourth sending the game to overtime. Once in overtime Ferndale had the ball first and scored to give them the win, however Wolves QB Devin Fairman would go nearly untouched for the 10-yard score on the first play of West Shamokin’s overtime try.
In the second overtime Jacob Szul came up with his first interception of the game and Devin Fairman would score again to give the Wolves the 36-30 win and qualify them for playoffs.
After the game West Shamokin Head Coach Jon McCullough gave a ton of credit to his team for their accomplishment and gave the key to winning the game.
Devin Fairman was also excited to have his number called on all of the plays in overtime.
The playoff pairings will be made tomorrow by District 6, stay tuned to the Kittanning Paper for more details.
