It was a wild senior night at Armstrong High School Tuesday night as the Armstrong River Hawks (12-3, 10-1) took down the formerly undefeated Oakland Catholic Eagles in three out of four sets.

The River Hawks were forced into a fourth set by the Eagles after defeating Oakland Catholic in set 1 (25-21). In set 2 the River Hawks lost 25-19, and in set 3 Armstrong won 25-23. However since the score was so close the two teams had to settle the score in set four.

In the fourth set the River Hawks found themselves down 21-16 before going on an unbelievable tear that left no one person in their seat. Armstrong would go on to outscore the Eagles 10-4 before winning the match on a Kenzie Lasher kill.

River Hawks Head Coach Andrea Lasher was elated after the game in what she described as an ‘awesome’ performance.

“It’s Awesome! I’m very happy, very excited, but we still have one more match to go against Kiski on Thursday. So we have to re-focus and get play hard on Thursday.”

This game was a bit of redemption for the River Hawks as their only section loss came earlier in the season against Oakland Catholic.

The River Hawks will have a chance to become co-section champions (along with Oakland Catholic) with a win on Thursday as Armstrong travels to Kiski for their last regular season game.
