Hundreds of East Franklin Township residents were estimated to be without electricity last night as a result of a vehicle accident along East Brady Road.
About 10:30PM, Applewold and East Franklin Township volunteer firefighters blocked off the area between Butler Road/Old Route 422 near the West Kittanning Borough boundary and Sherwood Drive in the West Hills neighborhood after a red Oldsmobile crashed into a tree in the area of 205 East Brady Road.
Yellow police tape also was spread across a driveway in the 200 block of East Brady Road to block residents from being hurt by fallen electric lines, with some lines about six feet off the road surface.
West Penn Power crews shut off electricity about 11PM.
Fire officials on-scene said they arrived to find smoke dissipating from the car
An incident report was not completed by Pennsylvania State Police troopers in time for this morning’s edition, but Kittanning #6 EMS crews reportedly transported a female and a juvenile to ACMH Hospital following the crash.
Firefighters and 9-1-1 dispatchers also heard from local residents during the crash clean-up that a male and female were walking around the neighborhood asking neighbors not to call police; though it is not known if this was connected to the incident.
Firefighters left the scene about midnight, but fire police directed traffic around the site via Pine Street into the early morning.
Allegheny Power and Windstream officials were both notified and power was restored in the early-morning hours.
