H&R Block’s Kittanning Office Hosts More $1,000 Winners!

The money keeps flowing in the $32,000 sweepstakes sponsored nationally by H&R Block - and it’s flowing toward Armstrong County.
Two more local winners were awarded $1,000 each last week as the sweepstakes moves into its final week. The corporate H&R Block has been giving away $1,000 per day in a random drawing in their national headquarters. To qualify for the daily drawing, H&R clients must submit their email address at the time their taxes are prepared at the local office.
Elva Gemmill from Kittanning was awarded her check on Thursday, February 4. She has been an H&R Block client for the past 10 years. As a single mother of two children, she said there are many ways to use the money. Her recent return was prepared by local H&R Tax Professional Shannon McCrea.
Two days later, the Smith Family became the next recipients of the daily drawing. Kevin and Rhonda Smith filed their taxes jointly, and were trying to decide who should handle the prize money.

“It’s all mine, I thought!” Kevin said with a chuckle! To which, Rhonda replied with a grin, “I’ll take care of it!”
H&R Block Tax Preparer Tracey Rearigh has been with the local office for the past five years. She said business has been booming since the promotion started last month.
“It’s a good idea. It’s bringing a whole lot more people into H&R Block,” Rearigh said.
Kevin Smith is not shy about telling people he won.
“Everybody that I tell about it is like, ‘Oh I’m going to get my taxes done at H&R Block. I hope I win!’ I’ve been telling everybody I see!” Kevin said.
H&R Block began awarding winners nationally in their daily drawing on January 16, and will draw the last winner on Monday, February 15.
