Tons of Items Collected During Spring Hard to Recycle Day

The Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County is pleased to announce that the “Hard to Recycle” Day that was held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 8AM to noon was a very successful event.

Items that were received for recycling were: clean car and truck tires with a $1.00 charge, white goods with a $10.00 fee for items containing Freon, scrap metal, used motor oil, lead acid batteries, office paper, newspapers, corrugated cardboard, bi-metal cans, aluminum cans, #1 & #2 plastic bottles & jugs, as well as clear, green and brown glass bottles & jars.

The total hard-to-recycle items collected was 26.66 tons of tires, 13 lead-acid battery units, 5,080 pounds of scrap metal, and 265 gallons of motor oil.

We would like to thank the Armstrong County Board of Commissioners, the Armstrong Recycling Center, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, P. J. Greco Sons of Kittanning, and Bradigans for their sponsorship and support of this successful event.
