A couple living in a home along Iron Bridge Road in Rayburn can now safely enter and exit their home thanks to a collaborative repair effort on May 20 and 21 hosted by Armstrong Habitat for Humanity with volunteer help from Siemens, of New Kensington and funded by Thrivent Financial, of Pittsburgh.

Zambotti Enterprises and Good Tire Services – both Kittanning businesses – also stepped in to lend a helping hand by donating services during the two-day project.

The elderly couple, who did not wish to be identified, were thankful for the efforts of all those involved after their deteriorated front steps and back porch were torn down and rebuilt during the Thrivent Repairs project.

Volunteers also removed years of accumulated materials from an outbuilding.
The unused items were hauled away by Zambotti Enterprises and Good Tire Services.

“It’s great to see so many people here from Siemens,” Bob Hoffman, a
Thrivent Financial partner for Western Pennsylvania said Friday.

On a national scale, Thrivent and Siemens employees have had a history of collaborating with Habitat for Humanity.

Armstrong Habitat for Humanity’s Executive Director Michael McElhaney said he was grateful for all of the help and thanked everyone involved.

“It’s nice that so many different companies and organizations can work together to improve a property for a qualified family,” McElhaney said.
