Fire Destroys Campers at Scrap Yard

A fire at a Manor Township scrap yard brought emergency crews out this morning.

9-1-1 dispatchers received the initial call at 9:44 AM that several camper trailers were on fire at Manor Metals on Hawk Hollow Road. As many as 30 trailers were in close proximity with one another.

HAZMAT Coordinator Bill Hamilton was also called to the fire since the trailers had propane tanks that were in danger of exploding.

Crews from Manor Township, Kittanning Township, Bethel Township, Ford Cliff, and West Kittanning fire departments responded as well as Kittanning Hose Company #6 Ambulance.

Manor Metals highlift equipment maneuvered the trailers away from those that were burning.

There were no reported injuries in the incident.
