OBIT: Carl E. Zimmerman (Dayton)
Carl E. Zimmerman, 81, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Laurelbrooke Personal Care Home.
He was born September 25, 1933 in Baum Pump Station, Armstrong County, the son of Hobert Jackson Zimmerman and Eva Mae (Rhodes) Zimmerman Cogley.
Carl lived in the Baum Pump and Dayton areas all his life and was a member of Mt. Zion United Presbyterian Church.
He married Phoebe G. Roush on November 24, 1955 and honorably served in the U.S. Army for three years.
Carl worked for many years as a laborer for Union #952 and, along with his wife, owned and operated Phoebe’s Country Care Personal Care Home for six years.
In his free time, he enjoyed working in his flower gardens. Carl will be best remembered as a giving person who always provided help to those in need.
He will be remembered with love by his son, Terry Zimmerman and wife, Gloria, of Templeton; three daughters: Pamela G. Turney, of Worthington, Melody Lockhart and husband, Mike, of Dayton, and Judy Satterfield and husband, Matthew, of Sugar Grove, Pa.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Cogley, of Kittanning.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Phoebe G. Zimmerman, who died July 10, 2013; step-father, Mervin K. Cogley; two brothers: Russell Zimmerman and Paul Zimmerman; two sisters: Dorothy Thompson and Edith Gettinger; and son-in-law, James Turney.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, September 10, 2015 - at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home in Dayton.
Additional visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Mt. Zion United Presbyterian Church, 1433 St. Route 66, Templeton, PA, with Pastor David D. Murphy officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion United Presbyterian Cemetery in Templeton.
