OBIT: Jesse K. Toy (Kittanning)

Jesse K. Toy, 89, of Kittanning, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at home.

He was born on October 27, 1925 in Manor Township to Lois Ann Wagner. He was a lifelong resident of the community. He worked in the coal industry for 41 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the Center Hill Church of the Brethren, and attended West Glade Run Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Kittanning-East Brady Masonic Lodge #244 F&AM, and the New Castle Consistory, Sinnamahoning Sportsman Association, the United Mine Workers, and served as a former Red Coat at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

Jesse enjoyed Gospel music, camping, and going to Florida in the winter. He also enjoyed working with flowers.

He is survived by his wife: Betty (Waugaman) Toy of Kittanning; son: Victor Calvin (Kathy Jo) Toy of Ford City; daughter: Deborah Lynn (James) Graham of Kittanning; granddaughter: Airen Elizabeth (James) Rupp of Worthington; grandson: Andrew James (Tiffany) Graham of Kittanning; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Rose Rupp of Worthington, Madelyn Paige Graham of Kittanning, Calvin James Graham of Kittanning, and Elaina Lily Rupp of Worthington; sister: Eileen (Vernon) Neubert; and a number of nieces, nephews, step-nieces and step-nephews, and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Mary Louise (Wyant) Toy whom he married on July 29, 1948 and who died on September 29, 1998; and half brother: Terry Wagner.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning, with a Masonic Service at 7PM. Additional viewing will be held from 10AM until the time of a funeral service at 11AM on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home with the Reverend John Snyder officiating. Interment will be in the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
