OBIT: Paul Cravener (Kittanning)

Paul Edward Cravener, 87, of Kittanning, died on April 16, 2014 at ACMH Hospital.

He was born on August 14, 1926 in Kelly Station, PA, a son of William and Florence Cravener.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European, American, Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation. He also served in the Korean War receiving a Combat Infantry Badge, and Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star.

He was affiliated with St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kittanning, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Ford City Eagles. He was inducted into the Armstrong Hockey Hall of Fame. He was instrumental in implementing the “Learn to Skate” and “Learn to Play Hockey” programs.

Paul is survived by his two daughters: Nancy Paula (Gary) Foster of McGrann and Vicky L. (Jeffrey) Russell of Ford City; one son: Lloyd W. (Wendy) Cravener of Kittanning; grandchildren: Keith Crissman of Ford City, Rebecca Crissman of McGrann, Evan Cravener of Kittanning, and Gabby Cravener of Kittanning; great-grandchildren: Keith Crissman of Ford City, Kim Crissman of Ford City, and Derrick Croyle of McGrann; and loving companion: Marleen Fiscus of Kittanning.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy B. Cravener; his sisters: Della and Thelma; and his brother Herbert.

Friends will be received at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 7-9 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 and 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, April 18, 2014. Visitation continues Saturday morning at 10AM, with a funeral service being held at 11AM in the funeral home with the Reverend Carl Johnson officiating. Interment will take place in the Lawn Haven Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Armstrong Hockey Hall of Fame, 11931 State Route 85, Suite C, Kittanning, PA 16201.
