Big changes are coming to Redbank Valley Trail that connects to Brookville, and you can help out this weekend.
The planning committee for the Depot Spur to the Redbank Valley trail will be hosting a dedication breakfast to benefit the spur’s trail maintenance and bike rack fund.
The benefit will be held Saturday, August 13th at 9 AM at the new Opera House Café at 229 Main Street in Brookville. The breakfast will include lots of food as well as a silent auction of donated gift baskets from Brookville area businesses. The breakfast and silent auction will precede the ribbon cutting opening the newly-paved and improved trailhead across from Giant Eagle next to Brookville Lumber off Route 36 (South White Street) at 10:30 AM.
The breakfast is $20, but if you want a spot you should act fast, because tickets are only on sale until Saturday, August 6th. You can buy tickets from Hoak Insurance or from committee member John Pozza, who can be reached at (484) – 269 – 1297.
Each ticket includes five raffle chances for the gift baskets displayed in the front window of Hoaks through August 12th. Additional raffle tickets are $1 per chance, or $5 for seven chances, and can also be purchased at Hoaks.
According to committee member Sandy Mateer none of this would be possible without the help from a $25,000 Pennsylvania Greenways grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through North Central Regional Planning and Development, along with a matching $25,000 donation from an anonymous donor.
The trail is set to have limestone gravel for easier cycling along with the new bike rack.
The money raised through the benefit will help to improve the Redbank Valley Trail and maintain it as well.
For any further information or for tickets contact John Pozza at (484) – 269 – 1297 or check out their website at www.redbankvalleytrails.org.
