Kelly Station Sportsmen Club is set to host their first 3D outdoor archery shoot on Saturday July 23rd and Sunday July 24th.

Over one-hundred man hours went into changing Kelly Station Sportsmen Club from a dense wooded area to a thirty lane archery course.

Although this is there first outdoor shoot, archery chairman Josh Miller expects more to come.

“We plan on having one (shoot) a month from now until hunting season, and then we’ll take a little break. Around January is when we start back up for indoor shoots. We’ll set a date in August for our next shoot, but we have to check with other clubs and when they’re having a shoot,” Miller said.

This isn’t Kelly Station Sportsmen Club’s first shoot, they have a large indoor range where they hold events in the winter, or whenever possible. Josh Miller explained.

“We have indoor leagues, and we’re halfway through the season for that,” Miller said.

The Sportsmen’s Club had to make some additions to their course, Miller explained.

“We recently got eighteen brand new targets to add to what we have, and that gives us thirty for the outdoor shoot. We are one of the more local clubs that are doing an outdoor shoot,” said Miller.

Kelly Station Sportsmen Club Vice President Steve Blosnick says that anyone can come and enjoy the shoot.

“We’re also going to allow crossbows, compound bows, any type of archery. There’s no age limit; men, women, and children are all welcome to come and enjoy the shoot.”

There will be food and refreshments for sale during the shoot, there will also be water available on the course. Steve is making pulled pork sandwiches and there will even be a novelty shoot, where participants can pay $1 per arrow to try and hit he bullseye.

Sign-ups will start at 7:30 AM on July 23rd and 24th and will run until 1:00 PM. The event only costs $10.00, and is even less for kids.

If you want to contact someone about any upcoming shoots or for any additional information, check out the Kelly Station Sportsmen Club Facebook page. Rain or shine (as long as there is no lightning) the event will take place this weekend.
