The Kittanning 11/12 year old All-star baseball team was back at it again last night, a day after beating West Shamokin at Ding Field.
Kittanning had a tall task in front of them as they had to win both games of their double-header against New Bethlehem in order to capture the Tournament of Champions championship.
The first game of the double header was one for the ages. There was a little bit of everything for everyone.
Kittanning came out the gates with dominant pitching. Eli Wiles went three whole innings without allowing a run, while on the offensive side the Kittanning All-star team was able to put up four runs in those three innings.
Kittanning had its best inning in the fourth when they scored 5 runs on solid hitting and base running.
However, New Bethlehem wasn’t ready to roll over as they put up 10 runs in the final three innings of regulation to force extra innings.
With the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning, New Bethlehem’s pitcher walked Peyton Harter, forcing Zane Lash who got hit by a pitch earlier in the inning home for the game winning run.
Heading into the second game New Bethlehem was able to get some offense earlier than in the first game.
New Bethlehem started on offense and carried their hot hitting in the last three innings of game one into game two.

Kittanning heads to the dugout after the first inning of the second game of their double header against New Bethlehem.
New Bethlehem scored two runs in the first to take the lead for the first time all night, and they would keep their lead for the rest of the game.
New Bethlehem went on to score eight runs the rest of the game, compared to Kittanning’s five runs.
Overall, there is still a lot to be proud of for the Kittanning All-star team. They were able to make it to the championship of the All Star tournament and the Tournament of Champions.
Kittanning manager Dan Damore was still proud of how his team preformed in the championship game.
“They battled, we got down 10-1 (in the second game) and they came back and hit the ball, then we shut them out after. We made some errors in the beginning of the game, after that they (Kittanning) came together and stopped them from scoring anymore and battled their way back into it.”
This was the last game of the Little League season for these boys, but they are already looking forward to fall baseball.
